Overview

Grand Reserve is Puerto Rico’s tournament course: Tom Kite’s Championship layout has hosted the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open every year since 2008, and in 2022 it staged the first USGA championship ever held outside the U.S. mainland. It opened in 2006 as Coco Beach, spent a stint as Trump International, and now belongs to the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve. Expect wide, palm-framed fairways, big greens, lakes and a steady ocean breeze, with El Yunque’s ridge as a backdrop. Older listings advertise 36 holes; the International Course has been trimmed, so guides now describe a 27-hole facility.

Recognition: Host of the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open

Course Facts & History

  • Has hosted the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open since 2008 (most recently March 2026).
  • Hosted the USGA’s U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball (2022) — the first USGA championship outside the U.S. mainland — and the Latin America Amateur Championship (2023).
  • Wide fairways, large greens and constant wind: pros go low, resort guests can still score. Water and palms throughout; only a few holes touch the ocean.
  • Formerly Coco Beach and Trump International (the Trump name was leased, not owned); today the golf belongs to the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve resort.
  • Hole count: Discover Puerto Rico and Hyatt marketing still describe 36 holes (four nine-hole loops: Lakes, Ocean, Palms, Mountain), but Where2Golf and a June 2026 transaction summary describe 27. The back nine of the International course is closed, so confirm which nines are open.
  • Karl Vilips won the 2025 Puerto Rico Open here; Golf Advisor ranked the Championship Course #5 in Puerto Rico (2023).
